Loren Wayne Arney, formerly of Battle Creek, passed away on May 9, 2017 at the age of 95 in Olivet, MI surrounded by his loving family. Born September 3, 1921 in Mt. Moriah, Missouri, he was the son of Orsen and Ethel (Culver) Arney. He graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1939 and served his country honorably in WWII as a member of the United States Army. "Arney" was employed at the Kellogg Company as a foreman retiring after 35 years in 1978. He and his wife of 50 years, Mary (Horsford) Arney moved to Florida where they lived until her passing in 2000. He then returned to Michigan to be near his daughters, where he resided until his death.

Survivors include daughters, Kathryn (Earl) Hoag of Olivet and Karen (Frank) Brownell of Marshall; grandchildren, Melissa Walters of Florida, Michael Walters of Battle Creek, Amanda (Cam) Robinson of Olivet and Emily (Ryan) Mead of Marshall; ten great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; brother, Lawrence (Dotchie) Arney of Battle Creek; sister, Colene Helsby of Jacksonville, Florida. Additionally, he is survived by brother-in-laws Lynn Juckett of Battle Creek and Robert Scott of Florida. Special caregivers include Manuel, Tonya, Mindy, Pam and Jody at Country Living of Olivet and Grace Hospice of Lansing. Arney was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, his parents, sisters Lura Main-Hickok and Osea Boone.

Arney was a life member of the American Legion Post 54 in Battle Creek. For many years he and his brother, Lawrence, were volunteer honor guard members playing Taps at military funerals. He was also a member of the Kellogg 25-Year Club.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside memorial service, including full military honors, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 2435 West Territorial Road, Battle Creek.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions may be directed to Country Living, AFC of Olivet or the American Legion Post 54 of Battle Creek.
