Cheryl Lynn Jones

Our beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, Cheryl Lynn Cordray Jones, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 11, 2024. She was 75 years old.

Cheryl was the heart and soul of our family. She was the wife of Tim Jones for 57 years (June 17, 1966, in Dowling, MI.)  She was mom and best friend to her two children, her daughter Michelle and her son, TJ, as well as mother-in-heart to TJ’s wife, Laura.

Cheryl was born on April 30, 1948, in Hastings, Michigan to Louis and Nyla (Strand) Cordray who preceded her in death. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama after spending most of her schooling in the Harper Creek school district.

Cheryl spent the last 12 years battling many health issues and did so courageously without complaint. She was an inspiration to those that knew her. Her quiet resolve to continue to live through those difficult battles amazed her doctors and was very much appreciated by her family and friends.

Cheryl looked forward to summers when she would travel with her daughter to favorite places such as New Orleans and Savannah. Every morning, she would talk with her son on the phone, sharing their thoughts, prayer requests and daily activities. She would work side-by-side with her husband in the yard and around the house. She was an excellent seamstress and an avid reader. She loved to play Scrabble with her sisters and would say it kept her mind sharp. With the help of her best friend and sister, Lu, she raised her baby brother, Duane and her younger sisters, Jacquie and Fran.  They referred to her as their North Star. She also loved her “fur babies”, Maizy, Jozie and Paizley.  Cheryl enjoyed spending time with her family and more importantly, spending time with Jesus and planting seeds of her faith. She was the best wife, mother, sister, and aunt anyone could ever have.

Cheryl is survived by her loving spouse, Tim Jones, children, Michelle Jones and TJ (Laura) Jones; siblings, LuAnne (David) Upson; Duane (Marie) Strand; Jacquie (Brett) Grable; Fran Slone.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 2838 Capital Avenue SW, Battle Creek, with a Celebration of Life Service for Cheryl following at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Robert Barton officiating. There will be no interment.
