Rachel Jane (Tank) Cutcher

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother passed away on October 29, 2021, at the age of 96. Rachel Jane (Tank) Cutcher was born August 27, 1925, to Clarence and Zella (Smith) Tank in Bono, Ohio. At the age of four, she moved with her parents to Homer, Michigan where she grew up. She attended Sloan School, a one-room country school, from first through eighth grade. She graduated from Homer High School in 1942. After graduating from high school, Rachel was employed at the Office of Price Administration (OPA) in Albion. In 1944, she married Ransom “Renny” Cutcher. They had two children, Fred, born in 1949, and Barbara, born in 1957.

Rachel also was employed at the Gale Foundry, Booth Furniture Store and was Clarendon Township Treasurer from 1949-59. She also worked at the Calhoun County Courthouse in Marshall. While living in Ft. Myers, Florida, Rachel worked at the Thomas A. Edison Tourist Home and the Sand Dollar Dress Shop in Ft. Myers Beach.

Rachel was a member of the St. Joe Baptist Church until it closed and was also a long-time member of the S.E. Clarendon Extension Club.

Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Floyd Tank, her sister Eva Faye (Tank) Ambrose-Firestone, and her son Fred Cutcher. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Barbara (Clyde) Pratt; one daughter-in-law, Becky (Fred) Cutcher; Bill Fausz whom she affectionately called her “second son;” eight grandchildren: Shelly (Matt) Swope, Lisa (Jim) Jackinchuk, Jennifer Sheeks, Nikki (Todd Candelaria) Sheeks, Jason (Morgan Glanis) Pratt, Adam (Helen) Pratt, Jocelyn Blosser, Darcy (Dan) Stubbs; ten great grandchildren: Elizabeth Swope, Sophia Swope, Collin Potts, Rachel (Zack Dile) Potts, Kaden Holt, Lydon Holt, Trey Candelaria, Eloise Jackinchuk, Braylon Pratt, Lylieanna Pratt, Ryry Pratt, Skylar Danbury, Zachery Danbury; one great great grandchild, Liam Dile. Rachel also had many nieces and nephews whom she thought the world of and thought herself truly blessed with wonderful friends and neighbors. Rachel lived a full life and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will take place from 10am-12pm on Monday, November 15, 2021, at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 303 South Hillsdale Street, Homer MI 49025 with funeral services taking place at 12pm. Interment will follow Fairview Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Tekonsha Township Library, 230 S.
