Mildred Louise (Jones) Townsel

July 12, 1938 — March 28, 2020

Mildred Louise Jones Townsel, 81, of Battle Creek went to sleep in the Lord on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on July 12, 1938 to the union of Willie Lee (Smith) Jones and Earl Jones in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mildred moved to Battle Creek in 1983.

Mildred worked as a caretaker for many years prior to working at Tokai Rika USA now TRMI in Battle Creek, retiring 1999. She then worked as a volunteer Grandmother at several local schools in Battle Creek.

She gave her life to Christ at an early age and made her church home at Battle Creek Seventh-day Adventist Tabernacle. Mildred met the love of her life Roy Townsel in 1984 and they joined hands in marriage on September 4, 2008.

Mildred loved being with and helping children. She was a devoted greeter and cook at church. Mildred was an avid reader, she enjoyed listening to gospel and country music, flower and vegetable gardening and painting different scenes and designs on various sizes of rocks she would find. Mildred will be fondly remembered by her sass, stubbornness in a good way and her beautiful smile.

She was preceded in death by her 3 children; Leroy Williams, Melissa Gentry and Earl Johnson. Mildred leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband; Roy, her sons; Greg Wimsatt, Paul Wimsatt and Larry Thompson all of Marion, Indiana, Justice (Regina) Jennings of Louisville, Kentucky, Jerome (Dui) Johnson of California, Henry (Yvonne) Lang of Battle Creek, Samuel (Lorena) Townsel of Tokyo, Japan and Bryant Williams of Battle Creek, her special daughters; Tina Phillips of Sherwood , Vicki Skinner of Battle Creek, Rugina Garrett of Battle Creek and Sandra Williams of Battle Creek, her loving sister in law; Phyllis (Melvin) Dillard of Cleveland, Ohio and her special friends Aubrey Brian (Micky) Porter of Battle Creek. She also leaves 44 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private visitation and memorial service for Mildred will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at Battle Creek Seventh-day Adventist Tabernacle, Battle Creek. Arrangements were entrusted to Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 2838 Capital Ave SW, Battle Creek, MI 49015.
