Michael Herr

Michael F. Herr, 62 of Pennfield Township died on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at his home.

Mike was born on November 1, 1957 in Battle Creek to Frederick and Hermine (Mayer) Herr.  He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1975.  On December 30, 1978 he married Diane M. Ferris at the Convis United Methodist Church.

Mike has owned and operated the Saw Shack in Battle Creek for over 40 years.  He also worked for J. C. Black Vending Company in Battle Creek for a short time.  Mike loved spending time with his family and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren. He loved playing music and enjoyed playing with his family band. Mike enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and racing motorcycles.  He also enjoyed bowling, playing cards and farming.  Another passion of Mike's was to play and work with his ponies and log and pull his draft horses.

He is survived by his wife Diane; son Joel (Billi Jo) Herr; grandchildren Rhylee, Olivia, and Colton; mother Hermine Wilson; step mother Irene Herr; siblings, Sandy (Larry) Howard, Mark (Kandy) Herr, Mark (Debbie) Case, and Curt (Deedee) Case; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Frederick O. Herr; and step-father Clare Wilson.

Family will greet friends from 11am-1pm on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at the Marshall Chapel of the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US 27 North with funeral services celebrating his life will take place at 1pm with Pastor Steve Olmsted officiating.  Family will gather with friends following the services at the Kempf Family Funeral Home Reception Hall.  Family requests memorial contribution Pleasant View Family Church or to St. Jude Children Hospital.
