Obituary

Mary Carol (Myers) Allen of Marshall, Michigan passed away at her home on May 1, 2021 with her daughter and special friend by her side.
Mary Carol was born in Albion on June 12, 1936 to Jewell Shirley (Morgan) Myers and Hugh Myers. When she was four the family moved to the Wattles Park area in Battle Creek where she grew up. Mary Carol graduated from Marshall High in 1954 and to this day maintained many dear friendships and enjoyed the monthly "54 Lunches" with members of that class.
Mary Carol was a valuable assistant to many different administrators throughout her career, working as a secretary to the state directors at State Farm for 12 years and in the office of ophthalmologist Dr. Albright for five years. She became the Secretary to the Superintendent of Marshall Public Schools in 1974 and retired from that position after 30 years, working with five different superintendents. While at the school she was often the first contact for many new teachers and staff members and always tried to make sure everyone felt welcome and supported.
She married Don Allen in 1961, they were married for 20 years and had one daughter Linda (Allen) Smoot.
She had two grandchildren Julia Smoot (a junior at U of M) and Erik Smoot (a junior at MHS) whom she adored and supported through countless soccer games, ballet recitals, band concerts and horse shows. Her grandchildren knew that they could always count on "Baby TeTe".
She and her special friend Bill Ray have been together for over 35 years. In that time, they have enjoyed numerous vacations throughout the U.S. as well as attending Spring Training and games to support her beloved Detroit Tigers Baseball Team.
Mary Carol was a caretaker of her family and offered support and love to many, often in the form of her homemade pies. Her warm smile that has brightened the day of so many will be missed.
She is survived by her daughter; Linda (David) Smoot of Marshall, Michigan, her grandchildren; Julia Smoot and Erik Smoot both of Marshall, Michigan, her special friend; Bill Ray II of Ceresco, Michigan, her brother; Bill (Bonnie) Myers of Delton, Michigan and her sister Marjorie Morgan of Howard City, Michigan.
