Larry D. Howard, 73, of Battle Creek, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall.
He was born on June 25, 1949 to Donald and Gladys (Conley) Howard in Lackey, Kentucky. He was a 1968 graduate of Marshall High School and started working at Eaton Corporation in Marshall in 1968. Larry retired in 2004 as a Machine Cell Technician.
Larry and Sandy worked together to start Howard’s Ceramics and Gifts 15 years ago in Battle Creek. This was after many years of doing ceramics in their home.
On June 26, 1976, Larry married Sandy Herr in Convis Twp., Michigan.
Larry had attended Pleasantview Family Church in Dowling for many years and was a member of the Coon Club in Pennfield Twp. In his earlier years he was a Cub Scout and FFA participant. Larry became a Cub Scout leader and a 4-H leader as well. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Larry enjoyed traveling to Northern Michigan, watching You-Tube videos, and reading outdoor magazines. He found great comfort by being outdoors and watching birds at the feeder. Larry's greatest love was for his family and especially his grandchildren, Ryder and Hadlee.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Sandy; his children, Heidi (Ryan) Strunk of Battle Creek and Travis (Leonardo) Howard of Battle Creek; his two grandchildren, Ryder Strunk of Battle Creek and Hadlee Strunk of Battle Creek and his sister, Falene Howard of Marshall.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Howard, his biological mother, Gladys Howard who passed away at a young age and his mother, Jean Howard.
Visitation for Larry will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2023, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, Michigan 49068.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Pastor Steve Olmstead, officiating.
Burial will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens in Battle Creek.
