Obituary

Larry Lee Chenoweth, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, went to be with Jesus at the age of 81 on Sunday, December 18, 2022. Larry was born on January 20, 1941, to Dorothy Marie (Sprow) Chenoweth & Arthur William Chenoweth in Coldwater, MI. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Chenoweth and sister, Suzzanne Howes. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan E. Chenoweth; his two sons, William A. Chenoweth, and Michael J. Chenoweth; four grandchildren, Kristen E. Chenoweth, Mikaella N. (Chenoweth) Gardner, Samuel M. Chenoweth, Sarah L. Chenoweth; and one great granddaughter, Maeve L Gardner.

Larry graduated from Coldwater High School in 1959 and later received his degree in Industrial Engineering from Western Michigan University. He worked for General Motors foundry division located in Pontiac, Michigan for seven years.  In 1968, Larry left GM and went to work with his father at AC Foundry Inc, located in Battle Creek, MI.   Larry’s father, Arthur, started the foundry in 1962.  Larry worked with his father and brother, Tom, in the family business for many years but eventually had to take over the business when his father died in 1984.  Larry was joined by his son, Michael, in 1992, and together they ran the family business.  In 1998, Larry retired, selling his ownership shares to their biggest customer, Melling Tool, out of Jackson, MI.   Larry was an active member and officer of the American Foundry Society for over 30 years and a past board member of OMNI Family Credit Union.

Larry enjoyed fishing and golfing with his friends and family.  He also enjoyed traveling across the US in his motorhome with his wife.  Larry was into building and flying remote control airplanes and helicopters and was an active member of the Balsa Bees of Battle Creek for many years. Larry was a member of the First Wesleyan Church (now the Woodlands) where he recommitted his life to Christ. One of his passions was challenging his four grandchildren in cribbage, where bragging rights were always at stake. His sons and grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he loved every minute he had with them.
