Carol Ann (Smith) Sherman

Carol Ann Sherman, 57, of Homer, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 3, 1965 to Art and Karen (Herlan) Smith in Albion, Michigan. She graduated from Homer High School, the class of 1983. Soon after, she attended Central Michigan University and received her Bachelor of Art's Degree in 1987 in Fashion Merchandising. Her first career job was at Mervyn’s Department Stores, opening and merchandising new and remodeled stores.

On October 28, 1989, Carol married Jeff Sherman at Homer Presbyterian Church.

Carol owned and operated JC Creative Concepts in Homer for 10 years, retiring in 1998 to stay home and raise her children.

Carol will be fondly missed for her most gracious personality and open arms in welcoming all children and friends into their home. Nobody left with an empty stomach.  She made everyone feel as if they were the most important person in the room.  She was affectionately known as the "Hostess with the mostest". Carol enjoyed hosting the annual Halloween and Michigan football game parties. Above all else she loved being incredibly involved with her children and all of their activities.

Carol was an active member of the Homer Athletic Booster's and organized the Leon Draime Golf Outing each year.

Carol is survived by her loving spouse of 33 years, Jeff; her two sons, Preston (Molly) Jeffrey Sherman of Homer, Michigan and Jordan Anthony Sherman of Homer, Michigan; Her parents, Art (Karen) Smith of Homer, Michigan; her two brothers, Steve (Jennifer) Smith of Lumberton, New Jersey and Jim Smith of Homer, Michigan; her nephew, Jacob Smith of Lumberton, New Jersey and her niece, Avary Smith of Lumberton, New Jersey. She is also survived by Brock Ridgeway of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Visitation for Carol will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 303 S. Hillsdale Street Homer, Michigan, 49245.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 11:10 am at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services in Homer, Michigan, with Pastor Tim Marvil officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Homer, Michigan.
