Betty Evaline Boyer

She is remembered as “Betty, Sis, Mom, Aunt Betty, Grandma, and Grandma Betty”, but in all cases she is known as a woman who genuinely cared for others.

Betty Evaline Boyer, 90, of Bellevue, MI, went home to her Lord and Savior on November 10, 2022, at the Flower House in Nashville, MI. She was born on May 3, 1932, to Joseph and Muriel (Ballschmieder) Allgaier in Merrill, WI. At the age of 12, her family moved to Bellevue where she graduated High School in 1950. In January of 1951 she married Ernest C. Boyer, and they shared 61 years of marriage together.   She took her role as homemaker to heart and found joy in the daily tasks of supporting Ernie and the children, in the midst of the many things that life sent her way. She found her strength and comfort from a deep faith in Jesus.

If someone needed a hand, a kind word, or some freshly baked cookies, Betty was there to share her gifts. She was well known for the feat of transforming a tree full of punky pears into jarred delicacies.  She did not waste an opportunity to use and share whatever she was given.

The sight of a violin, piano, and organ when someone walked into her cozy home, made it easy to see that Betty loved music. Throughout her life she sang and played piano and organ for the church.  For a period of time Betty sang with the ‘Echoes of Grace Choir’ in Battle Creek, Michigan. Even during the final year of her life, and with the loss of her sight, she still enjoyed playing both piano and organ on the digital keyboard. While at the Flower House, she could be found encouraging others, worshiping in song, and sharing her love of music.

Bettys’ caring was demonstrated not only in her daily life, but also in her choice of additional pursuits. She earned certifications in both the dental assistant and the home health care fields. During the last years of her life, she served as a member on the Bellevue Christian Church Board, where she had been a lifetime member. She supported children and youth by teaching Sunday school, and by opening her home to the church teen group for soup and sandwiches. In her later years, it was not unusual for her to invite young families to share a “bite to eat with her.” For her visitors there was always the possibility that she would serve her fresh baked bread or delicious apple pie that was loaded with fresh apples and a liberal splash of maple syrup.

Betty will be missed by both young and old, but most of all by her family. These recent shared words seem to capture the essence of Betty, “She always seemed to be there with what was needed to support…” Each individual can fill-in the last word of that statement and know that Betty left a lasting legacy on those she met.

Betty is survived by her Sister, Rose (Robert) Harris; Two Sons, Daniel (Cecilia) Boyer of Livonia, MI, N. Todd (Julie) Boyer of Fond du Lac, WI; Daughter Carol (John) Chapman of Richland, MI; 8 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ernest Boyer; Parents; Three Brothers, Joseph (Tillie) Allgaier, John (Ellen) Allgaier, Thomas Allgaier.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the Bellevue Christian Center, Bellevue, Michigan.

Funeral service will also be held on Saturday, November 19, 12:00 pm at the same location, with Pastor Danesh Manik, officiating.

Following the funeral, burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery Bellevue.

Memorials are suggested to the AC Flower House, or the Bellevue Christian Church.
