Alice M. (Powers) St. John

October 9, 1927 ~ May 7, 2020 (age 92)


Alice M. St. John, age 92, of Battle Creek passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born October 9, 1927 in Bellevue the daughter of Theo Powers and Clare (Elmendorf) Edwards. Alice was a graduate of Bellevue High School, where she was one of the first 10 students to play in the band.

Alice worked at Kellogg Cereal Company in Battle Creek after graduating from high school for a few years, but she decided to become a homemaker.

She was a long time member of Bellevue Christian Church. She loved watching baseball, especially the Detroit Tigers. Alice enjoyed crossword, word search and jig saw puzzles. She loved talking and sharing stories with people as her family often said that she didn't know a stranger. Her greatest love was her family.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Mary A. St. John of Battle Creek;  her sister, Anna Woodmansee of Battle Creek; her grandchildren, Alicia Embry, Amy Tink, Ann St. John, Ryan St. John, Caleb St. John and Deanna St. John; her great-grandchildren, Riley Packer, Lillian Tink, Hayley St. John and Mya St. John. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Duane M. St. John; her step-father, Theo Powers, her mother, Clare Edwards; her son, Robert D. St. John and her brother, Charles Powers.

Due to COVID-19 precautions, a private family visitation and service has been held at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 205 N. Elizabeth St. Bellevue, Michigan 49021 Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Bellevue Christian Church, 734 W. Capital Ave. Bellevue, Michigan 49021.
