William J. Geisen

December 20, 1949 — November 27, 2023

Albion

William Joseph Geisen, 73, of Albion, passed away on November 27, 2023 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI, surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born on December 20, 1949 in Albion to Joseph and Rowene (Bosserd) Geisen. He graduated from Albion High School in 1968, attended Michigan State University and later served in the US National Guard.  On May 8, 1971 he married Vicki Jean Vogts of Albion.

Bill farmed in the Albion area his whole life and worked at Decker Manufacturing until retirement.  Later in life, he enjoyed farming and spending time with his grandkids.  He lovingly supported Courtni breeding and showing llamas, shooting clay pigeons with Tyler, starting a large pumpkin patch with Wyatt, and playing school with Whitney.

Along with farming, he found joy in family gatherings, deer season, family picnics, and the Calhoun County Fair.

Bill was an avid letter writer.  Several times a year, you could expect a lengthy letter that was always several pages.  He would typically start a letter, taking up to 3 months to finish and finally mail to his lucky recipient.  Later, long daily texts replaced the letters.

He is survived by his loving wife Vicki; children Shelli (Chris) Schmeichel of Noblesville Indiana, Shawn (Kelli) Geisen of Albion; grandchildren, Courtni and Tyler Schmeichel along with Wyatt and Whitney Geisen; brother Gary (Loretta) Geisen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Rowene Geisen.

He will be remembered for caring deeply about the happiness and well being of his friends and family.
