Warren Samuel Withee, 90, of Marengo Township passed away on August 22 in Marshall, Michigan following a short illness.Mr. Withee was born July 30, 1916 in Marengo Township to Frank C. and Laura E. (Bosserd) Withee, and lived all his life in the area. Mr. Withee was a 1934 graduate of Marshall High School and enjoyed attending his class reunions. He was engaged in farming activities during his youth and most of his entire adult life. He was an independent agricultural trucker hauling livestock for many years and ultimately retired from the Calhoun County Road Commission where he operated a snowplow and an asphalt paver for many years.He was elected to three terms as a Marengo Township Trustee, and served in several lay capacities for the Methodist Church. He was a member of the Marengo Methodist Church. Mr. Withee was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Crossman Withee and Laura Ethel (Bosserd) Withee and a brother, Alton B. Withee. For many years he enjoyed the company of his special friend, the late Evelyn Royer.Mr. Withee is survived by his brother Melvin F. Withee of Atlanta, Georgia, nieces Laura R. Bliss of Marshall, Jane R. Pope of Brookfield, Wisconsin, Carolyn Scott of Atlanta, Georgia, and nephew, Robert F. Withee of Kalamazoo, several great-nephews and a great-niece.Warren was well known in the community as a kind and generous person who earned the respect of his friends, neighbors & acquaintances. He looked forward each year to attending the Calhoun County Fair. He was especially gifted with a memory of historical events in and around the Marshall area, and enjoyed passing along family history to other family members.Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 Friday at the Craig K.
