Wanda M. Gard, age 93, of Marshall, Michigan, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023. Wanda was born on September 29, 1929 in Emmett Township Calhoun County the daughter of Alfred and Fern Hughes, sister Wilma and brother Gordon, all deceased. She was the mother of Marilyn Kay (deceased) and Larry Lynn. Two grandsons Ryan Gard and Eric Frost. Her marriage to Orlo Gard, Jr (deceased) ended in divorce.
She attended elementary school in Ceresco and graduated from Marshall High School in 1947.
She was employed at R and H Trailer Sales in Battle Creek as Secretary, Calhoun County Health Department in Marshall as Nursing Secretary, and then Vision and Hearing Technician screening pre-school children for over 25 years.
Being a Christian was very important to her as she attended church in Ceresco as a youngster and then the Ellis Corners Methodist Church where she held many offices and teacher. She was a 4H leader and held offices at the Marshall House Apartments where she lived for over 10 years.
Wanda liked to travel with partner Kathy Pruneski and visited many states, the Caribbean and Alaska where she survived a floatplane crash in 1994.
She also searched her close ancestor families, Hughes, Dilsaver, Weimer and Weihl. Joseph Hewes, was a signer of the Declaration of Independence from North Carolina.
There will be no services. Interment will be at Floral Lawn in Battle Creek. She requested any donations to be given to the Marshall Lions Club.
