Walter R. McCullough, who answered to many as “Richard” or “Dick,” passed away February 9th, 2024, at the age of 91. This gentle, loving man, also answered to brother, husband, father, and friend. Born and raised in Homer, Michigan, Richard met and married Delores Tillson on November 1st 1952.
Richard worked hard throughout his life. He appreciated a joke and loved a good prank, grinning ear-to-ear, laughing with a contagious chuckle often before the punch line. In addition to his quick wit and love of games, Richard was a man devoted to God. He endeavored to honor Christ in word and deed. Even after suffering a stroke, he continued to minister to those around him at the nursing home where he lived for the past two years. Richard was known by the residents, their families and staff as a man of prayer, both before meals and in other times of need. He expressed God’s love through his dedication to his wife of 71 years, and their daughters, Judith (Michael) Spradling, Barbara (Wayne) Drummond, Beverly McCullough, Karen (Paul) Binkerd, Sarah (Mike) Lovejoy, and Rachel (John) Aoun.
Richard leaves behind a legacy of faith and love encompassing 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Dielman, Marjorie Nantz and Kathy (Ken) Davis.
