Virginia Boakes, 79, of Marshall, passed away on March 28, 2022, in Kalamazoo, MI.
She was born on June 23, 1942, to Clyde and Caroline (Ertman) Fisher, in Benton Harbor, MI. She attended school at Benton Harbor High School for 12 years. On March 12th, 1966, she married Everett Boakes in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Virginia and Everett lived in Marshall, Michigan.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Battle Creek, Michigan. Retired from Gordon Elementary after more than 15 years as Librarian. Before that, she was a typesetter for many years in Benton Harbor, Davenport, Iowa, and Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Virginia loved to bake holiday pies and cookies. She also made many different types of ceramic and porcelain figures. She also loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Virginia is survived by her Daughter, Carolyn (George) Cassar of Grosse Pointe Shores, MI; Son, Everett Scott (Monique) Boakes of Leander, TX; Five grandchildren, Anthony Stebila of Austin, TX, Jonathan (Olivia) Boakes of Round Rock, TX, Andrew Boakes of Leander, TX, Mia Cassar of Grosse Pointe Shores, MI, Robert John Cassar of Grosse Pointe Shores, MI; Sisters, Ruth (Fisher) Shuler of Baroda, MI. Delores (Fisher) Rogalski of Bridgman, MI, and Brothers, Clyde (Patty) Fisher of Eau Claire, MI, Vern (Elva) Fisher of Eau Claire, MI, and Tom (Rhonda) Fisher of Groveland FL.
She was preceded in death by Husband of 53 years, Everett L. Boakes, Father, Clyde William Fisher, Mother, Caroline (Ertman) Fisher; and brother-in-law, Lee Shuler of Baroda. MI.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 3, 2022, from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, Marshall, Michigan.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022, 11:00 am, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Battle Creek, Michigan, with a visitation an hour prior to the service. Pastor Preston Hoxworth officiating.
Burial will take place in the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens following the service.
