Vicki Lynn (Russell) Jewett

Vicki Lynn (Russell) Jewett, 72 of Battle Creek, passed away in her home where she wanted to be surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, August 19, 2023. She had been with Pace Senior Care for 3 Years. They came into her home 3 times a day. Her daughter lived with her and took care of her the last 3 years. Her daughter has a dog named Diesel that was special to her and she loved so much. He was always by her bed or lying beside her bed. He got to be a favorite with Pace.

Vicki was born on December 1, 1950 to Jack D. and Thelma (Hoglin) Russell in Battle Creek, Michigan. She graduated from Lakeview High School. Vicki married Gary Lee Jewett Sr. on July 12, 1969. They were later separated by divorce but were a source of support for each other these last few years. They would spend the holidays these last few years together with their children and grandchildren.

Vicki worked in the banking business for over 40 years and retired from Kellogg Community Credit Union.

Vicki enjoyed camping up north and many other places. She loved to go to South Haven and her favorite place to eat was Clementine’s. She liked going on day trips to Shipshewana with her daughter April, going through the shops, the bakeries, cheese store, and so much more. Vicki was an excellent cook and baker. She was known for her cherry tort. Also her peanut butter pies, and coconut cream pies, among so much more. She passed her excellent baking and cooking skills down to her daughter and son. She liked going to Garage Sales and seeing if she could find a good deal. You would also catch her watching the Newest Finds on QVC or the HSN Channel. She had a love for horses and was always there at every horse show and the week at the Calhoun County Fair when her children were in 4-H growing up. She would never miss a show or week at the fair.  She loved her grandchildren so much, whether it was watching them, camping with them, cooking with them, watching soccer games, baseball games, motocross races, stock car races, the list goes on. Vicki was an incredible woman and will be remembered by those that knew her for her kind and loving nature. She was always giving to others before herself. She was an amazing, kind and giving mom and truly one of a kind!

Vicki is survived by her children, April Bass and Gary (Sarah) Jewett II; grandchildren, Jacob Bass, Gary Jewett III, and Khloe Jewett; and her best friend of over 40 years, Faith Mindingall. She was preceded in death by her former spouse, Gary Lee Jewett Sr. and her parents.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2023 from 4-6pm at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 2838 Capital Ave S.W, Battle Creek, Michigan 49015. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, August 28, 2023 at 11am with Chaplain Paul Caszatt officiating. Following the service, entombment will take place at 12:30pm at Battle Creek Memorial Park, 2435 West Territorial Road, Battle Creek, Michigan 49015.
