Vaughn R. Jackson

Vaughn R. Jackson, age 69, of Marshall, died at his home on Monday, August 21, 2006. Vaughn was born on June 24, 1937 in Plainwell to Clayton R. and Marjorie I. (Haffenden) Jackson. He moved with his family at the age of 10 to Battle Creek. He lived there until they moved to Indianapolis, Indiana when he was a teenager. He graduated from Broad Ripole High School in Indianapolis in 1955. He then attended Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis for two years. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on Dec. 30, 1957 and served until his honorable discharge on Dec. 14, 1959. Vaughn moved to Battle Creek after his discharge, and lived there until moving to Marshall in 1974. Vaughn went to work at Kellogg Company in Battle Creek in 1960. He retired as a Head Machine Man in December of 1995. He was a member of the Kellogg 25 year Club, and Moose Lodge #676. He enjoyed fishing at Lyon Lake. Vaughn was known to also enjoy the occasional trip to a casino. He was a NASCAR and pro football fan. Vaughn is survived by his sons Terry Jackson of Battle Creek and Dennis (Maureen) Jackson of Newaygo; 5 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Gwen (John) Denning of Battle Creek, Joellyn (Alan) Cornwell of Marshall, and Becky (Dan) Frazier of Lumberton, Texas; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. There will be no public visitation. Services will be conducted at Ft. Custer National Cemetery on Friday, August 25, 2006 at 11AM with Rev. Sueann Hagan of Convis Union United Methodist Church officiating, and with military honors conducted by Ft. Custer National Cemetery Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home. The family suggests that friends who wish to make memorial contributions direct them to Lyon Lake Association for the Fish Restocking Fund.
