Thomas W. EnglishThomas W. English, age 71, of Marshall died Thursday, August 03, 2006 at his home in the loving care of his wife.Mr. English was born on September 10, 1934 in Albion to Isaac and Hazel (Hollibaugh) English. He was a life long resident of this area and was a graduate of Albion High School, class of 1952. Tom had been employed by the Eaton Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1982 as an inspector at Plant 1. He served in the United States Army and in the National Guard in Albion and the Air National Guard in Battle Creek.A marriage to the former Phylis Krome ended in divorce. On July 3, 1982, he married the former Shirley A. Mackety in Marshall.He was a member of the Marshall Moose Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and attending his grandchildren sporting events. He was an avid University of Michigan fan and enjoyed watching the Detroit sports teams on television.He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Thomas English II, Tim English, Lynette (Randy) Sullivan and Philip (Kristine) English all of Tucson, AZ, Mark T. Simmons of Marshall and Brad C. (Christine) Simmons of Portage; 20 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; sister, Jeanette (Willie) Ellis of Jackson; brothers, Guy (Shirley) English of Florida and James (Gloria) English of Marshall; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 Friday at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home. A Moose Lodge memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. A funeral service to remember and celebrate his life will be held 10:00 am Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Indian Mission Cemetery, Athens. Memorials are to the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
