Talija Ann Wood

Talija "Ty" Ann Wood, 45 of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 10, 1976 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Gerald "Jerry" A. and Carolyn (Butcher) Wood.
Ty worked as a bar tender/cook at Silver Tap in Battle Creek for many years and most recently she was the Chef at Griffin Bar and Grill in Battle Creek.
Ty loved to cook, nobody left her house hungry. She enjoyed playing the Cello, listening and going to country music concerts, being around bon fires and 4th of July fireworks. She will be missed for her very giving and generous heart. Ty absolutely loved her family and wanted nothing more than to be with them as much as possible.
She is survived by her son; Trevor Newburn of Battle Creek, her grandchildren; Rylee and Haygen Newburn, her parents; Jerry (Carolyn) Wood of Battle Creek, her siblings; Heather (Tom) Wood-Jones of Battle Creek and Gerald (Kimberly) Wood of Battle Creek, her paternal grandmother; Thelma Wood of Battle Creek, her grandmother; Pauline Butcher of Battle Creek, her 3 nieces; Samantha Whitney, Kaitlyn Wood and Addison Wood, her nephew; Joseph Whitney III, her childhood special friends; Taleekia Bennett, Shaneekia Miller and Melody Needham. Ty was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather; Earl Wood, her maternal grandfather; Clarence Butcher, her maternal grandmother; Mary Niswander-Ellis and her aunt Val Butcher.
Visitation for Ty will take place on Friday, June 11, 2021 from 12 Noon until 2:00 PM at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 2838 Capital Ave. SW Battle Creek, Michigan 49015. A graveside funeral service will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, Battle Creek at 2:30 PM with Tim Rinehart officiating.
