Steven Lee Rodgers

Steven L. Rodgers, 74 of Marshall Michigan, passed away on Sunday January 28, 2024.

Steve was born in Battle Creek on September 15, 1949, to Raymond and Phyllis (Greenman) Rodgers.

After high school Steve enlisted in the United States Amy. He served overseas and was honorably discharged on December 8, 1970 as a SP5. 

Steve had a special bond to his only son, Scott. The two were very close in Steve’s old age. They cared very deeply for each other. 

He worked for Oaklawn Hospital in the maintenance department and Marshall Charter Schools from 2000 – 2012. Steve stayed active in his retirement. He was an avid golfer, enjoying teeing off on nice sunny days. He enjoyed bowling on a league in Marshall and on Saturdays, Steve would go to the Moose Lodge in Marshall. He played softball in the late 80’s and early 90’s. When he wasn’t on the course, he found joy in taking Reese, his beloved dog, for walks. Steve liked to travel to the Upper peninsula to camp, taking in the beauty of nature. Steve stayed active with the VA after his service time, appreciating the community.

Steve found peace in the simple pleasures of life. He savored his time and was not one to rush.

Steve will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Phyllis (Greenman) Rodgers. Steve is survived by his son, Scott (Stephany) Rodgers of Battle Creek; step-son, Tyler Ramos; granddaughter, Raelyn and sister, Kathy Witucki of Battle Creek, Michigan. 

Memorials can be made to the Humane Society of South-Central Michigan at 2500 Watkins Road, Battle Creek, MI 49015 or Erin’s Angels Rescue, Quincy, MI 49082.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
