Scott "Stretch" Ronald Reinsmith, 63, of Charlotte, Michigan passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on June 15, 1958 to Jean Ann (Frever) Baker and Ronald Lee Reinsmith in Lansing, Michigan. He was a 1976 graduate of Waverly High School of Lansing. During high school he attended the Career Center, excelling in welding and fabrication. Scott furthered his education at Lansing Community College, studying auto cad while working at Efficiency Production.
On May 25, 1985, he married his high school sweetheart Laura Kolar in Lansing.
Self taught, Scott played electric guitar, for fun and professionally. He played in several bands such as Locomotive, Group Therapy, and most recently Dead Finger. He opened Stretch Guitar Repair, his own luthier business so he could spend more time with his family.
He was hired into Elderly Instruments as a luthier where his passion for repairing and restoring guitars and banjos flourished. As a Luthier, he was skilled at inventing tools to make repairs easier for the shop. Anyone who was familiar with Stretch knows he approached his work with meticulous perfection. He took pride in his skills and sharing techniques and knowledge among his colleagues.
Scott expressed his love through music. It was the shared love of music that brought Scott and Laura together. He influenced his children to be creative through teaching them how to make, and listen, to music.
He loved to ride his dirt bike on the trails with his son, or on his property racing alongside his faithful dog Toma. Scott's other interests include writing and recording music, handcrafting specialty pickups and hardware for instruments, woodworking in his home shop, working on cars, fishing, road trips Up North with his wife, camping with his family, watching Western films, and making "dad" jokes.
Scott "Stretch" is survived by his loving wife; Laura, his children; Ashley (Sohrab Forouzesh) R. Reinsmith of Chicago, Illinois and Jacob (Jessica Templin) S. Reinsmith of Marshall, Michigan; his sister; Robin D. Reinsmith of Lansing, Michigan; his nieces; Christine (Shawn) Brookshire of Greenville, South Carolina and Emily (Owen) Wolf of Lansing, Michigan; his nephew; Benjamin (Kayla) Clare of Abbeville, South Carolina, and his great-niece, Clare Brookshire.
