Sandra Kay Adkins

Sandra Kay (Smith) Adkins 77, of Battle Creek, passed away on November 5, 2023. 
She was born on August 11, 1946, to Earl and Dorothy (Pierce) Smith in Climax, Michigan. On August 15, 1964, she married Richard “Dick” Adkins Sr. in Climax, Michigan.  Dick and Sandy raised their family in Battle Creek. She worked at Wal-Mart for many years where she was both a people greeter and a cashier.

Sandy was a wife and mother most of all. She put all her love and attention into her husband and children, always supporting them. She loved her family more than anything, she loved and cherished them every day. 

Sandy is survived by son, Richard W. Adkins II; sisters, Lynna Arnette, Judy Smith, and Patricia Holmes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” W. Adkins Sr.; daughter, Melissa Kelley; and parents. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm, with the funeral beginning at 12:30 pm, Pastor John McConihay officiating. Services will take place at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 2838 Capital Ave SW, Battle Creek, MI 49015. Burial will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, MI 49012.
