Sally Joyce Garman

Sally Joyce Garman, age 77, passed away on May 3, 2024 in Marshall, Michigan.

She was born on November 5, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan to Dr. Brant Lee and Ruth Doty. Sally was a loving mother to her sons, Steve Garman (Natalie) and Benjamin Garman (Kristine). She was also a beloved sister to Brant (Karna) Doty, Tim (Louise) Doty, Bob Broene, and Brian Athy. Sally was a devoted grandmother to Lily, Mya, Holly, Grace, Ava, Hudson, Amarie, and Isabella. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Josie Broene and Peg Athy, and her son, James Garman (Heather). Sally graduated from Everett High School and Great Lakes Christian College. Sally was known for her faithfulness, love for her family, and her talent as a seamstress. She had a passion for singing and enjoyed being a band and theater mom. She loved working with children and helping them improve their reading skills and confidence. In her free time, Sally enjoyed traveling, teaching in Japan as a missionary, and serving as a camp counselor at Rock Lake and Lake James Christian Assembly. She also taught Sunday School, loved baking, and hosted many friends from Marshall's sister community in Japan. A memorial service for Sally will be held on Friday, May 10th at Central Christian Church in Battle Creek with Pastor Rob Schwartz officiating. Visitation will take place from 10am to 11:00am, followed by a memorial service at 11:15 am. A lunch will be served at the church following the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Doty Scholarship Fund at Great Lakes Christian College. Arrangements are being handled by Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services. Sally will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
