Ruth L. Albaugh, 91, of Fredonia Township, died on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Maplewood of Marshall following a long illness.
Ruth was born April 13, 1930 in Marshall to Charles A. and Onnilee G. (Kelso) Katz. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1947. On September 1, 1950, she married Keith D. Albaugh in Angola. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2016.
Ruth was first elected to Fredonia Township Clerk in 1970. She would be re-elected to the board for a total of 46 years and served her last term in 2016. Ruth also was an Avon Salesperson for many years. Ruth was a familiar face in the Marshall community her whole life. She served on the Bush School Board, the Oaklawn Hospital Auxiliary, where she held several different offices including President, and she was a member of the Marshall Women of the Moose #202 where she held many offices including Sr. Regent. Ruth was part of the Calhoun County Fair where she was superintendent at the Floral Hall for many years. She was an active member of the Lyon Lake Study Group and the Cooperative Extension. When she was with the FCE she was a vital part of the Bingo Tent at the Calhoun County Fair. Ruth was appointed by Governor James Blanchard to the The Small Cities Program Advisory Committee in 1984. She enjoyed bowling, bunco, playing cards, and traveling to casinos.
She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (Susan) Albaugh, Michael (Carol) Albaugh, and Charles “Chuck” Albaugh; grandchildren, AJ (Nate) Evans, Rick (Hannah) Albaugh, David (Kelli) Albaugh, Steven (Tiffany) Albaugh, and Thomas (Abrielle) Albaugh; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, McKenzie, Alex, Noah, George, Violet, Evelyn, CJ and Samantha; her brother Charles R. "Bob" (Linda) Katz;and sisters in law Carol Albaugh and Carol Katz. Also special cousins John "Jack" Morris and Sharon (Kelso) Dewey. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a great-grandson, Andrew Evans; brothers, Dana, Bernard, Edwin, Charles, Donald, and William.
Family will greet friends on Friday, August 13, 2021, from 1-2pm at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall with a memorial service taking place at 2pm. Interment will follow at Lyon Lake Cemetery. Family will gather at the Marshall Moose Lodge following the committal service. Memorial contributions are requested to the Oaklawn Hospital Auxiliary, Oaklawn Hospice, or to the Fredonia Township Fire Fighter Association.
