Rosemary Godby, 88, of Battle Creek, went to be with her Lord on Monday, March 4, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on December 19, 1935 to Arba and Iva (Bloss) Dennis in Battle Creek.
On October 30, 1957 she married Ray Godby in Detroit, Michigan, sadly he passed away on November 11, 2011. Rosemary graduated from Carson City High School in Carson City, Michigan, shortly thereafter she boarded a bus by herself headed to Atlanta, Georgia, to begin school at a Bible College. After several years there, her mother unfortunately was in a car accident and Rosemary was called home to care for her.
Rosemary was a retail clerk at K Mart in Battle Creek, retiring in February of 1998. She was a longtime member of First Church of the Nazarene in Battle Creek. Rosemary was devoted to reading her Bible and attending church. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, word search and board puzzles. Her house was always clean and tidy, everything had a place. Rosemary and Ray loved to travel in their travel trailer, which included trips to Northern Michigan and many areas throughout the United States. A grandchild was always invited to share in their adventures. Rosemary will be missed for being such a kind and gracious person.
Rosemary is survived by her loving children, Emily (Kenneth) Hawblitz of Battle Creek, Michigan, Cynthia (James) Denton of Battle Creek, Michigan and Ronald (Amy) Godby of Battle Creek, Michigan; her eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and eight brothers.
Visitation for Rosemary will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 2838 Capital Ave. SW Battle Creek, Michigan 49015 with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Pastor Tabitha Fisher officiating.
Entombment will take place in the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Memorials are suggested to the First Church of the Nazarene in Battle Creek (12866 Beadle Lake Rd. #7505 Battle Creek, MI 49014).
