Rocky Newsome

Rocky Newsome, age 64, of Marshall, MI, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, surrounded by his wife and children.

Rocky was born on October 7, 1957, in Pikeville, KY, to the late Chester and Matilda “Tilda” Newsome. Rocky was a lifelong Marshall resident. The family moved to Marshall when he was 2 years old, and he graduated from Marshall High School in 1975. He worked 29 years at Harvard Industries as a Journeyman Pattern Maker. He attended Jackson Community College, where he received his Associates in music. He retired from Progressive Dynamics in Marshall in 2018. He had a lifelong passion for music and taught students in music on all stinged instruments for many years. He traveled to many churches performing contemporary Christian music. He was very active at the Marshall United Methodist Church. He loved his children and grandchildren and spent many years as a church camp counselor. He enjoyed coaching soccer with his daughter’s soccer team.

He was united in marriage with Cynthia (Goodrich) Newsome on August 24, 2002. His is survived by his loving wife; children, Jessica (Brian) Bussing, Aaron Newsome, Brad Parker, Lindsay (James Mason) Parker, Heather Parker; grandchildren, Lily Arnold, Nora Arnold, Maisyn Bussing, William Mason, and Arthur Mason; two brothers, Ricky (Dorothy Behl) Newsome and Lynn (Jill) Newsome; one nephew, Tucker Newsome.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Layne Newsome; sister, Greta Caudill; brother-in-law, Ron Caudill; and niece, Hope Norton.

Friends may visit with the family from 4 -7 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at the funeral home, with Jacob Washburn officiating the service.
