Robert "Trucker" Ryan

August 15, 1960 — September 3, 2022

Battle Creek

Robert “Trucker” Ryan, 62 of Battle Creek logged his last mile on Saturday, September 3, 2022 peacefully at home.

He was born on August 15, 1960 to Harry and Janice (Casey) Ryan in Marshall.

Affectionately referred to as “Trucker”, he was a dedicated family man and hard worker with over 2,000,000 miles under his belt. He began his career down the highway with L.A. Trucking then shifted gears to Avery Trucking. After Avery Trucking he found high range with Paul Eichler Trucking which was purchased by Dan Miller Trucking. Though he was on the road a lot, his family was first, taking pride in his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a father to all, adopting many kids along his travels. Nothing pleased him more than, than coming home to his daughter’s home cooking and time with family. A motorsport nut, he enjoyed NASCAR and drag racing and his yearly trip to the Calhoun County Fair to watch the truck and tractor pulls along with his son Jeremiah. He also enjoyed watching Little League World Series baseball. Trucker was a die-hard Detroit Lion’s and Detroit Red Wings fan and he still found time for movies. Sly Stallone was his favorite actor, due to a little-known movie “Over the Top” where he played a truck driver. One of his favorite pastimes was to play Noah’s Ark slot machine and eating at Firekeeper’s Casino buffet. When Trucker entered a room, people knew it was him, from his laugh, to his huge heart and willingness to help anyone and adding his words of wisdom. He is loved by many, forgotten by none and he will live in our hearts forever as he drives the highway in the sky!!

Robert "Trucker" is survived by his mother; Etta (Michael) Zuck of Battle Creek, Michigan, his son; Jeremiah Duckham of Battle Creek, Michigan, his two daughters; Brittany Ryan of Battle Creek, Michigan and Krystal  Ryan of Battle Creek, Michigan; his grandchildren; Nicholas Duckham, I'Rayah Stribling, Roland Wise, Na'Zarie Stribling, Taraji Stribling, De'Prince Flowers, Heaven Stribling and De'Lyia Flowers; his siblings; Donna (Dean) France of Battle Creek, Michigan, Kelly (Robert) Converse of Silver Springs, Florida, Rebecca (Matthew) Hoover of Tekonsha, Michigan and Harry (Requel) M.
