Robert Charles Sexton, 86, of Marshall, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Comfort Care Assisted Living of Marshall.

Bob, as he was known to most, was born on August 24, 1936 in Marshall, Michigan, the son of the late George Wright and Thelma Hoyt Sexton. He was a 1954 graduate of Marshall High School. Bob entered the United States Army on December 3, 1959 and was honorably discharged on March 2, 1962, attaining the rank of SP4.

Bob worked at Eaton Corporation for 46 years, receiving many awards for perfect attendance. On November 7, 1964, Bob married Dianne Frances Schultz in Marshall, Michigan and has remained a devoted husband for 58 years.

After retirement, he could often be found at Kate’s Diner with his golfing buddies, “solving the world’s problems” over morning coffee.

As a member of the former Marshall Wesleyan Church, he served as board member, usher, and Sunday School teacher for many years. He embodied the meaning of faith, love, and compassion to all who knew him.

He was a member of the Marshall Country Club and golfed in multiple leagues, earning a “hole in one” in 2004. He also participated in the annual “Cucumber Open” for many years in Angola, Indiana.

He enjoyed deer hunting with his uncle Hank (Hoyt) and bird hunting with his beloved dog, Midnight. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Detroit Lions, who have honored him this year by actually winning this season.

Robert is survived by his wife Dianne Frances Sexton of Marshall; his daughters, Dianne (John) Marie Sczesny of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Kimberly (Tommy) Mills of Atlanta, Georgia, Lori (Gary) Lynn Shipman of Charlotte, North Carolina and Annette (Mark) Dale Deisler of Marion, Indiana; his sister, Mary Ann (Bob) Walker of Boynton Beach, Florida and his brother Bill (Barb) Sexton of Florida; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Dean Lee Dadow.
