ROBERT L. SCHNAITMANRobert "Bob" L. Schnaitman, age 80, of Marshall died Thursday, August 17, 2006 at Oaklawn Hospital.Mr. Schnaitman was born on October 29, 1925 in Marshall to Leo E. and Isabelle L. (Tingay) Schnaitman. He was a life long resident of Marshall and a 1943 graduate of Marshall High School. Following his graduation, Bob enlisted into the United States Navy prior to his eighteenth birthday. He served in the South Pacific Theatre. After the war, he returned to Marshall and worked at the family owned Schnaitman Meat Market. In 1956, he went to work at Permabilt Homes in Marshall as a draftsman. He retired in 1991, after 35 years of service.In 1954, he married the former E. Marie Smith in Marshall. She preceded him in death in October of 1963. Then on November 11, 1967, he married M. Maxine Wood in Marshall.Bob was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church of Marshall. He was also a member of the Claude E. Hale V.F.W. Post 4073, the American Legion Post #79 and the Disabled American Veterans. Bob enjoyed all sorts of sports and was an avid baseball and corkball player in his youth. He and his, wife, Maxine enjoyed traveling, having visited 48 states by car.He is survived by his wife, Maxine; sister, Helen (Donald) Hensick of Marshall; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by a sister, Martha Schnaitman.A graveside funeral service to celebrate his life will be held 1:30 pm, Tuesday, at Oakridge Cemetery with The Reverend Leonard J. Brinkmoeller officiating. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to Trinity Episcopal Church, Robert L. Schnaitman memorial fund. Assistance with memorials is available at the Craig K.
