Robert W. Laing

Robert W. Laing, 80, of Kalamazoo, died on Friday August 4, 2006, at his home.Mr. Laing was born on January 19, 1926 in Marshall Township to Charles E. and Grace H.(Thunder) Laing. He attended Runyon School.Mr. Laing worked for Huggett Construction for a few years, and later did janitorial work for Schuler''s Restaurant in Kalamazoo for many years. He retired from the Senior Citizens Food service in Kalamazoo, in 2005.Mr. Laing was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Kalamazoo. He enjoyed janitorial cleaning, working with tools, leather craft, basket weaving, and taking trips to the Old Country Buffet. He especially enjoyed going to the Calhoun County Fair.He is survived by a sister, Shirley (Grant) Myers of Tekonsha, and a sister-in-law Vera Laing of Marshall. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Charles, Donald, Gerald, and Duane Laing, and sisters; Anita Kienzler, and Marion Laing.Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00pm.-7:00pm with family present at that time. Service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Herb Hutchinson officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Temple Baptist Church of Kalamazoo.
