Richard "Dick" Herbert Carr, 97, of Ceresco, Michigan passed away on March 9, 2021 at Colonial House in Marshall, Michigan.
Dick was born on February 28, 1924 in Lebanon, Indiana to Vernon and Gladys (Ross) Carr. He graduated from high school in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
He entered the United States Navy on January 26, 1943 and was honorably discharged on January 31,1946 attaining the rank of Aviation Machinist's Mate, Second Class.
Dick married Betty Hickok on November 8, 1947 in Nashville, Michigan.
He started his working career as a Mechanic at Trumbell's and then at Haddock's in Battle Creek, Michigan. Dick then went on to become a salesman for S.H. Leggeitt in Marshall selling components for travel trailers. He retired in 1986 from Kevco in Marshall as a salesman for travel trailer components as well.
Dick loved hunting, fishing and golfing. He enjoyed playing cards and dancing with his wife Betty. They enjoyed dancing to big band music. He was a member of Quadrill Dance Club in Battle Creek. He was former member of the Marshall Moose and a longtime member of Oaklawn Life Improvement Center.
Dick is survived by his wife; Betty Carr (Hickok); his children; Sue (Steve) Doty of Bellevue, Michigan, Sharon (George) Myers-Levy of Plymouth, Michigan and Richard (Jenny) Carr Jr. of Clermont, Florida. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Lou Spooner. and his brother Robert Carr.
Visitation for Dick will take place on Monday, March 15, 2021 from 10:30 until 12 Noon at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall, Michigan 49068. A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Monday at the funeral home with Minister, Steve Doty officiating. Interment will take place at Newton Cemetery in Newton Township, MIchigan.
