Richard Arleith Broughton

Richard Arleith Broughton, 86, of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2023 at the Laurels of Bedford.

He was born on February 13, 1937 to June and Edna (Felder) Broughton-Washburn in Augusta, Michigan.

Richard was a longtime employee at Oak Hill Cemetery in Battle Creek, Michigan. Prior to Oak Hill he worked at Leila Hospital in yard maintenance, he took great pride in caring for the flower beds at the hospital. He enjoyed animals, especially farm animals, farming and working on cars and tractors. His favorite animal was his dog, Precious. You could count on country music playing anytime you went to visit Richard.

Richard is survived by his children, Bill Broughton of Michigan, Duane Broughton of Michigan and Judy Broughton of Michigan, his sister, Darlene Cosgrove of Battle Creek, Michigan, and his niece Sherrie Carnell of Battle Creek, Michigan. Richard is also survived by many grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Kathy Krontz and his brother, Lee Broughton.

A graveside service for Richard will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Oakhill Cemetery in Battle Creek, Michigan.
