Rhonda Lynne (Smith) Stepp passed away on February 4, 2022 from injuries sustained in a vehicular accident on January 28, 2022.
Rhonda was born August 24, 1959 in Bath, New York to Harold L. and Helen E. (Sutton) Smith.
She moved to Marshall, Michigan in 1965. Graduated from Marshall Schools in 1977. Worked as a Realtor for Real Estate One of Battle Creek, worked for McNabb Carpet in Milford, Michigan, VIP Floor Covering in Farmington Hills, Michigan and as a Secretary for Marshall Public Schools for 25 years. Moved to Somerset, KY in 2018 after retirement from Marshall Public Schools.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Stepp, whom she married on September 12, 2005.
She is also survived by her daughters, Jaclynne (Jesse) Morgan of Madison Heights, MI and Lorraine (Jayson) Nowak of Dayton, OH; Jerry’s two sons Jeremy (Silveria) Stepp of Albion; Jerrid Stepp of Marshall; and her mother Helen Smith of Richmond Hill, GA. Rhonda has many grandkids who were everything to her; Ian and Simon Morgan, Eli and Mae Nowak, Gabriella and Karsen Stepp. Also surviving her is a brother, Rocklyn (Pat) Smith of Dowling, MI; a sister, Karen (Billie) Gardner of Richmond Hill, GA; a niece, Adrian (Derick) Monroe, a nephew, Billie (Shawn) Gardner II and a niece, Kathryn Gardner of Richmond Hill, GA. Her first marriage to Kenneth Britten of Battle Creek ended in divorce after 24 years.
She enjoyed doing things with her family, going boating and fishing with Jerry, traveling, collecting rocks, gemstones and crystals, reading, creating driftwood art and decorating for the holidays. Community involvement included working with the Marshall High School Choir department, Advisor for the Marshall High School Seniors; Girl Scouts; a long term member for the International Rainbow for Girls; a past Board member of the Northside Snowmobile Club of Battle Creek; and a very active board member of the Somerset, KY Newcomers Club.
A memorial gathering will be held at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI on Saturday, May 14th from 1-5pm. The family requests donations be made to the Marshall High School Rhonda Stepp Memorial Scholarship Fund in lieu of flowers.
