Raymond J. Kalisz, 74, of Port Huron died on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Brighton.
Ray was born on March 30, 1947 in Detroit to Edward and Rose (Seewald) Kalisz. He graduated from Imlay City High School in 1965. On August 9, 1969 he married Gail Reilly at St. Louis Church in Mt. Clemens.
Ray was a Crew Chief in the United States Air Force, and later worked at the Battle Creek Federal Center. Ray retired as TSgt. from the 191st Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Selfridge Air Force Base, and the Michigan Air National Guard after serving 32 years. Ray was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Parrot Heads, Battle Creek Steelheaders, the Lake St. Clair Walleye Club, and the Michigan Club in Alabama. Ray was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, golfing, and throwing horseshoes. He enjoyed spending the winters in Alabama. Ray could light up a room with his stories, jokes, and multitude of one liners.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gail; children Patricia (Mark) Neibert, Raymond (Michelle) Kalisz, Josie (Steve) Celeste, and Michael (Lisa) Kalisz; Grandchildren Chelsie, Trey, Brendan, Colin, Erin, Christine, Eric, Sylvia, Landon, and Dominick; his mother Rose Kalisz; and twelve siblings. He was preceded in death by his father Edward Kalisz.
Visitation will take place from 4-7pm on Saturday, April 24, 2021, and Sunday April 25, 2021 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall MI 49068. A Rosary Service will take place at 6:30pm on Sunday April 25, 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Saint Philip Catholic Church, 112 Capital Avenue NE Battle Creek MI 49017.
