Phyllis May Keiper, 94, of Marshall passed away April 23, 2022. She was born on July 29, 1927, the eleventh of twelve children for Goldie Irene (Cooper) Bowers and Andrew (Fred) Bowers.
On April 20, 1946, after WWII ended, she married Paul R. Keiper of Marshall where they resided for the duration of their married lives.
Phyllis was a member of the Rice Creek Community Church and an active member in the community. She retired August 31, 2010, after working 33 years for Progressive Dynamics, where she made many friends.
Phyllis taught 4-H Leathercraft to children in the Rice Creek Community. In addition, her hobbies included gardening, which led to numerous awards at the Calhoun County Fair for her gladiolas, red potatoes, and canned vegetables; creating latch hook rugs that gave her great pleasure in giving to family and friends; putting jigsaw puzzles together and playing rummy. She and Paul enjoyed going to steam rodeos and flea markets together. Watching humming birds on hot summer days were some of her favorite times, along with watching westerns.
Phyllis is survived by her son, David and his wife Sandi Keiper of Davidson, NC; daughter, Sue Keiper of Marshall, MI; her grandchildren, Christa and husband David Morrison of Parker, CO and Jason and wife Becky Waggoner of Liberty, MO. Her great grandchildren, Donavon Morrison, Britney Morrison, Dillon Morrison, Dalton Morrison, Jaxon Waggoner, and Jenson Waggoner; four great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pansy Bramble and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul of fifty-eight years, her parents and eleven brothers and sisters.
Services have been entrusted to Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068 where visitation will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:00AM and the Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Steve VanSlyke and Dave Ousley officiating. A graveside service will follow at Rice Creek Cemetery, L Dr N, Marshall, MI 49068.
