Paul Collins Boes

Paul Collins Boes, age 55, of Battle Creek, passed away after a short illness (non-COVID related) on January 25, 2022, at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.

Paul was born in Battle Creek, MI, on January 5, 1967, to Lester and Sandra (Collins) Boes. He graduated from Lakeview High School class of 1985. He then attended Kellogg Community College and continued his education at Western Michigan University where he graduated with honors earning his Bachelors Degree in Education. Paul worked during college for Sears Roebuck & Company, then accepted a position as a claims specialist at State Farm Insurance retiring after 29 years of service.

He was united in marriage with Darla Boone on June 15, 2002. In his youth, he was an active member of Lakeview Baptist Church. Paul was active in various sports growing up including floor hockey, little league baseball, basketball, bowling, fishing and especially golf. Paul was an accomplished golfer earning a varsity letter in high school as well as finishing second twice in the Calhoun Country Amateur and qualifying for the Michigan Open. He was a two-time club champion at Riverside Country Club and a one-time club champion at Battle Creek Country Club and made three hole-in-ones during his golfing career!

He was a diehard University of Michigan fan as well as an avid Red Wings, Tigers and Lions fan. He enjoyed reading and watching history related programs.

Paul was a kind and gentle soul, quiet by nature, willing to give sage advice but not until he was asked. He will greatly be missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his family and many golf buddies.

Paul is survived by his loving spouse Darla Boes; his brother, Jody (Maria) Boes; his golden retriever Lucy and orange tabby Bert affectionately known as “the kids”, as well as and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester J. Boes and Sandra Boes and beloved golden retriever Maggie and cat Luc.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 2838 Capital Ave SW, Battle Creek, MI 49015. A funeral ceremony will take place at 12 p.m. on Monday, January 31, 2022, at the funeral home, with Rev. James Dyke officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens after the funeral. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Erin's Angels Pet Rescue, American Diabetes, or First Tee of Battle Creek.
