Patricia E. (Dutch) Nichols, 86, of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away on May 20, 2021 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Patricia was born on January 1, 1935 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Joseph and Edna (Gustke) Halder.
Patricia married Jack E. Nichols on October 7, 1951 in Battle Creek at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, sadly he passed away on October 7, 2009.
She worked on the packaging line at Kellogg Cereal Co. for over 24 years, retiring in 1990.
Patricia was a long- time member at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, where she taught Sunday school. For several years, she also taught Sunday school to individuals with intellectual disabilities at the Fort Custer State Home. Dutch was kind and generous. While she always put others first, she loved to be at the center of the action whether that be as the family barber in her kitchen, serving up Diet Cokes and ice cream, sewing and mending clothes for family, or supervising a construction project. She always had a pot of coffee ready and was happiest entertaining family around her kitchen table. Patricia is survived by her children; Craig (Linda Lou) Nichols of Pensacola, Florida and Jacqueline "Jackie" (Paul L.) Fronsman of Battle Creek, Michigan, her 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Kirk Nichols; her siblings, Joseph Halder, David Halder, Clarence Halder, Evelyn Halder, Caroline Worthington, Betty Lou Nosker and Elinor Nelson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 2838 Capital Ave SW Battle Creek, Michigan 49015.
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church 349 Capital Ave. NE Battle Creek, Michigan 49017 with Pastor Larry Gorlitz officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 AM prior to the funeral service at the church. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens in Battle Creek, Michigan.
