Patricia Ann (Bodrie) Loughrige

August 24, 1939 — April 10, 2021

Patricia (Pat) Ann Bodrie Loughrige, age 81, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021 in Marshall, Michigan. Born August 24, 1939 in River Rouge, Michigan, she was the oldest daughter of Winifred (Haener) and Bernard Bodrie. While her father served in the Army she lived in Washington State and Germany. Pat and her family returned to Michigan and in 1957 she graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in River Rouge. On May 29, 1958 she made Richard L. Loughrige the luckiest man on earth when she married him. They had 53 laughter filled years together before his passing in 2012. They made their home in Melvindale where they raised their 4 children. Pat was involved in the Melvindale athletic boosters, was a member of Downriver Christian Fellowship and Crossroads Church and Ministries in Marshall.

While Pat was not great at telling a joke, she loved to laugh at a good one. It is suspected that she married Richard for his sense of humor and his great hair. And possibly his sweater collection.

A talented and creative person, she loved all manner of crafts and DIY projects. Her creativity was on full display when she turned a shipping crate into a play house, complete with window boxes and wallpaper, for her grandchildren. Sadly, Pat was born too early for HGTV fame. Pat was also an avid gardener who spent many hours in her garden. She did not however enjoy baking.

Pat was a fierce competitor as anyone who ever played whiffle ball or a board game with her can attest. She once suffered a career ending injury while competing in a volleyball match against a future All-State athlete. Granted, the career was as a lunch lady and the future All-State athlete was a kindergartener at the time but it was a competition and Pat was determined to win.

One of her greatest sources of joy was her family who she deeply loved. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. If you spent any time with her, she would tell you about their accomplishments. She showed her love in a myriad of ways be it birthday dinners, attending games and recitals or buying a cake but definitely not baking one!

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for generations.

She is survived her children Lucinda (Les) Stone of Albion, Richard (Pamela) Loughrige of Woodland, her best kid Scott (Clare) Loughrige of Marshall, Shawn (Kathleen) Loughrige of Marshall, 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Loretta Palmieri of Huntington Beach, California, her brother Gerald (Theresa) Bodrie of Taylor and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard, her grandsons Isaac Loughrige and Paul Loughrige, and her brother Bernard Bodrie.
