Michael Gerard Vandermeer

Michael Gerard Vandermeer, age 62, of Athens, passed away on January 20, 2023.

Michael was born in Monroe, Michigan, on March 27, 1960, to Jacobus and Wouda (Lommerse) Vandermeer. He worked as an Agronomist for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and gardening.

Michael was united in marriage with Julie (Platte) Vandermeer on September 22, 1984. He is survived by his wife, Julie; three daughters and a son, Andrea (Robin Sillars) Vandermeer, Caitlyn Vandermeer, Erica (Zachary Pennigsdorf) Vandermeer, and Jacob Vandermeer; granddaughter, Natalie Pennigsdorf; two brothers and three sisters, Jerry (Lori) Vandermeer, Wilma (Kathy Hannigan) Vandermeer, Margaret (Mike) Iott, Jim (Lisa) Vandermeer, and Annette Latty.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacobus Vandermeer and Wouda Vandermeer.

Friends may visit with the family from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068, where a memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. Rev.
