Michael R. Smith

Michael R. Smith, age 75, of Climax, passed away on January 3, 2024 at his home in Climax surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 17, 1948 to Robert H. and Elsie L. (Quigg) Smith in Battle Creek, MI. Mike married Jo Ann Crandall on June 11, 1976 at Fine Lake, MI and they were married for 47 years. Mike worked for the Kellogg Company for 30 years. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, American Legion Post 225 and the VFW. Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing and going to the Gilmore Car Museum. He liked to grill hamburgers for his family, and he especially liked to take his daughters to South Haven to camp on property that he and Jo Ann owned.  

Mike is survived by his loving spouse, Jo Ann; daughters, Angela Smith of Kalamazoo, MI and Tiffany Smith of Grand Rapids, MI; sister, Julie (Keith) Sutton of Fine Lake, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 8, 2024 at 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, Marshall, Michigan.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024, 11:00 am at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, Marshall, Michigan with Pastor Brandon Crawford officiating.

Burial will take place in Oakridge Cemetery, Marshall, MI.
