Melvin Wayne O'Dell

Melvin Wayne O'Dell, 86, of Homer, passed away on April 25, 2022.

He was born on February 14, 1936, to George and Margaret (Chapman) O'Dell in Albion, MI. He attended school at Homer High school. Melvin worked as a Firefighter for Homer Fire Department over 60 years. On July 20, 1957, he married Winifred “Winnie” Richards in Albion, Michigan. Melvin and Winifred would raise a family and live in Homer, Michigan for the rest of their lives. They were married for 59 wonderful years before she passed in 2016. Melvin loved to hunt and fish around the Homer area. He liked to rebuild tractors and working in his garage.

Melvin is survived by his Son, Jeff (Debbie) O'Dell of Coldwater, MI; Daughter, Cindy (Ron) Parrish of Fairbury, IL; Four grandchildren, Wendy (Josh) Tackett, Travis (Ashtin) O'Dell, Aaron Parrish, Dustin Parrish; Five great-grandchildren, Jaiden Tackett, Hailey Tackett, and Brooklyn Tackett, Emily O'Dell, and Olivia O'Dell; Two Sisters, Joyce Coats, Rosemary Elkins; Bother, Calvin O'Dell.

He was preceded in death by Wife, Winifred "Winnie" O'Dell, Father, George O'Dell, Mother, Margaret O'Dell, Brothers Leo O'Dell, Ralph O'Dell, Norman O'Dell.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral Homer Chapel, Homer, Michigan.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022, 2:00 pm at the Kempf Family Funeral Homer Chapel, Homer, Michigan.

Burial will take place in the Fairview Cemetery- Homer, immediately following the service.

Memorials are suggested to the Homer Fire Department.
