Melissa "Missy" Nicole Head

December 30, 1974 — July 29, 2023

Formerly East Leroy

Melissa “Missy” Nicole Head, 48, formerly of East Leroy physically left this Earth on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at her home in Bradenton, FL. Though she is gone physically, she continues to show her presence with numerous pranks on her sister every day since.

Missy was hatched on December 30, 1974, in Battle Creek, Michigan to her beautiful mother, Donna and handsome father, Gary. She was an only child until she welcomed her baby sister 3 years and 2 days later. While her parents wanted to name the baby Julie, Missy was insistent on Angelo…. they settled their differences on Angela.

Missy grew up on Dexter Drive, Sonoma Lake and will forever be remembered as one of the founding members on the “Dexter Drive Posse”. She began her education at Sonoma Elementary. It was there that she met her forever best friend, Erin Cleveland. She would go on to graduate from Harper Creek High School Class of 1993. Her time in high school was spent playing basketball, softball, creating the 6th man club for the men’s basketball team and most importantly giving everyone around her constant laughs and endless smiles due to her lack of a filter. After high school she went on to obtain an associate from KCC and on to Western Michigan University receiving her bachelor’s degree in advertising and marketing. Missy will forever be known as a business freelancer. Many different companies had the pleasure of employing her. However, her favorite position was Director of Residence Life at UW, Richland Center where she was studying for her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology Education.

Missy never had children of her own, but she did have two biological nieces, Maddie “Maddog” Downham and Teagan “The Bird” McCormick. She will forever be known as the cool aunt that her sister always feared asking to babysit. Sadly, she never got to meet her great niece, Mia.

She is survived by her parents, Gary and Donna (Johnson) Head of East Leroy. Her sister, Angela (Ronald) McCormick of Kalamazoo. Two furry sons, Colonel and Dukie. Three nieces, Katelynn, Madison, Teagan and nephew, Scott. Two great-nieces, Ava and Mia and, two great-nephews Aedan and Mason. Special Swedish sister, Jenny (Patrick) Karrholm and her forever best friend Erin (Kristen) Cleveland. She also leaves behind so many other friends and family members that we would need to steal someone else’s obituary space to in order to list them all.

Up in heaven waiting for her arrival are her maternal grandparents, Norman and Margaret Ruth Johnson. Paternal grandparents, Floyd and June Head. Oh, who are we kidding, everyone who had the pleasure of meeting Missy and passing before her, could not wait for her arrival.

Missy’s “See Ya Later” gathering will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 2838 Capital Avenue SW, Battle Creek, Michigan, 49015, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and also on Saturday, August 19th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Her Life beginning at 11:00 AM and continuing a bit later at the Wattles Park Men’s Club, 1346 Michigan Ave E, Battle Creek, MI 49014.

If desired in lieu of flowers, Missy would be honored to suggest a contribution in her memory to Wattles Park Men’s Club, 13166 11 Mile Road, Ceresco, MI 49033.
