Matthew Ward, 46, of Marshall, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2021, at his home.
He was born on November 11, 1974, to Mark Ward and Debra Ward, in Batte Creek, MI. He attended school at Marshall High School, graduating in 1993. He then attended Jackson Community College. Matt loved people and spent many years working in customer service.
Matt was described by those who knew him as a “Gentle Soul”. He was a loving and caring human being. He was loved by all who knew him. When he was young, he attended Space Camp and was proud to be honored as Camper of the Week. As an adult, he enjoyed living a minimalist lifestyle. He loved playing Minecraft and was known to his nephews and niece as The Ultimate Lego Master.
He is survived by his beloved dog, LaLa; mother, Debra Ward; father, Mark (Louri) Ward; brother, Kyle (Tera) Ward and sister, Lisa (Jason) Crow; stepson, Ian Green, and stepdaughter, Milleena Kimber; stepsister, Tabbatha Ward and stepbrother, Nicholas Ward. He was preceded in death by his “Soul Mate” and long-time companion, Jen Green.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at the funeral home. Matt’s cousin, Tami Goodman will officiate the service. Following the service interment will take place in Oakridge Cemetery in Marshall.
