Matthew Holzberger, 64, of Marshall, MI entered into eternity with his savior Jesus Christ in the early morning minutes of Sunday March 20, 2022, following a short illness. He was born in Port Huron, MI on June 26, 1957, the son of the late Donald and Mary Holzberger. He graduated from Port Huron Central High School, class of 1976 and immediately entered into a tool and die apprenticeship under his father while attending St. Clair County Community College where he earned a Journeyman’s Tool & Die Card. He worked in every aspect of the trade and owned his own shop for 13 years. After being in the industry for nearly three decades, Matt shifted gears and decided he wanted to teach others what he knew so well. He went back to college at a late stage in life and started sharing his knowledge with high school students while earning an Associate of Science Degree. He then continued his educational journey and was earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Career and Technical Education from Ferris State University. Matt was a talented machinist who could repair or make just about anything. He cared deeply for his students and helped many of them find employment in the machining trades. He always encouraged them to be upstanding citizens.
Surviving Matt are his wife of 31 years, Amy; siblings, Donna Holzberger, Donald (Cindy) Holzberger, John Holzberger, Robert (Kim) Krohn and Andrea (Chris) Phillips. He also leaves behind a daughter, Jody; grandchildren, Katelyn, Breanna, and Ethan; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Matt was a passionate man with a wide variety of interests that ranged from politics to fishing to cooking. He had many friends with whom he enjoyed serious conversation. He was a man of high ideals and good character and especially loved sharing his ideas to improve things and make the world a better place.
