Mary Ann (Boronky) Sikora

June 12, 1926 — March 4, 2022

Battle Creek

Heaven gained a special angel on Friday, March 4, 2022.  Mary Ann (Boronky) Sikora, age 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in her home in Battle Creek, MI.   She was born in Duquesne, PA to Mary and Michael Boronky.  She married Victor W. Sikora on February 5, 1948.  Together they raised their two sons in Wadsworth, OH and later moved to Battle Creek, MI.

Mary always had a beautiful smile, a warm hug, and delicious food made with love.  She shared her love of baking with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She prayed for everyone, judged no one, and had a way of making you feel like family even if you weren't related. She was able to navigate life’s challenging times with determination and grace.

She was fiercely independent, had a great sense of humor, and loved playing bunco and going to lunches with her friends.  She was very proud to be able to live independently up to the age of 93.  She rarely missed her grandchildren’s special events and was always one of their biggest cheerleaders.  Their sports teammates enjoyed her famous banana nut bread and the volleyball girls quickly learned to rely on Granny’s famous purse to have anything they needed.

Mary was an avid sports fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Ohio State Buckeyes, sometimes watching one game on tv while listening to another on her xm radio.

Mary was preceded in death by her great grandson, Edziu Byron Kieltyka; her husband Victor W. Sikora; her siblings, Anna Boronky (Fran) Wagner and Michael (Lois Ann) Boronky.

She leaves behind her sons, Martin D. (Jan) Sikora of Cincinnati, OH and V. Douglas (Cathy) Sikora, of Ceresco, MI; her grandchildren Gwen (Matt) Raih, Jessie Sikora, Brett (Marcela) Sikora, Abby (Aaron) Kieltyka; and great grandchildren Wendy Raih, Maddie Raih, Kai Sikora, Bartosz Kieltyka, Malu Sikora, honorary granddaughter, Ulrike Haug, and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her wonderful loving caregivers at Northpointe Woods assisted living.
