Marlene G. (Prince) Oesterreich

Marlene G. Oesterreich, age 81, of East Leroy, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. Marlene was born on November 10, 1940, in Chicago (Roseland), Illinois, the daughter of the late Richard and Dorothy (Leistra) Prince. She graduated from Chicago Christian High School in 1958. She attended Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek. Marlene was united in marriage with Edwin J. Oesterreich on October 2, 1959. They are members of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Battle Creek and were previous longtime members of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Marlene loved the Lord and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and she took extraordinary joy in caring for her family.

Marlene is survived by her loving husband, Edwin J. Oesterreich; three sons, Paul (Amy) Oesterreich, Mark (Aimee) Oesterreich, and Timothy (Maggy) Oesterreich; six grandchildren, Stephen (Allysia) Oesterreich, Heidi (Ryan) Davis, Tyler (Shari) Oesterreich, Kristin (Daniel) Reck, Mackenzie Oesterreich, and Jake Oesterreich; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn (Richard) Aring; and one brother-in-law, Henry Hartog.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Bonnie Hartog.

Friends may visit with the family from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 114 E. Minges Rd., Battle Creek, MI 49015. After the visitation, a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Pastor Jack Langfeldt will officiate the service, with interment to follow in Morgan Cemetery in LeRoy Township.
