Marilyn Willson passed away on December 6, 2021, at the age of 86 with family by her side. She was born April 20, 1935, to Ralph and Gladys (Camp) Baier who preceded her in death. Marilyn had a heart of giving which she shared with her students, friends and family and her church congregation through the years. She loved nothing better than being in the middle of things.
Marilyn graduated from Lincoln High School in Ferndale in 1952. She attended Wayne State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Master’s degree. Marilyn taught for 35 years in the Warren Consolidated, Fowlerville, and Pontiac school systems. After retiring, Marilyn milked cows and helped with chores on the family dairy farm in Marshall of which she enjoyed. She loved working crossword and sudoku puzzles and was an avid reader and sports fan (she never missed watching a Detroit Tigers game and even attended a game this past summer). She also loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, which always put a smile on her face.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph of 60 years on November 2, 2015. She is survived by her children, Sue (Keith) Carlson of Warren, Marcia (Tim) Hoffman of Ellsworth, James (Julia) Willson of Dansville, and Jeffrey (Sonja) Willson of Marshall; grandchildren Daniel (Tamara) Carlson, David (Delora) Carlson, Jared Willson, Hannah Willson, Courtney Willson, Jordan Willson, Hannah Heard, Whitney Lamb, Michael (Sally) Willson, Andrew Willson, Mende Palmer, Eli Palmer, and Addisen Willson; great granddaughters Maddison, Adalynn, and Amara Carlson. She is also survived by her very dear (longtime) friends, Patty and Peggy as well as her ”guardian angel” Joan.
