Marie L. Josephsen, age 92, of Marshall died Wednesday April 15, 2020 at Heritage Assisted Living in Battle Creek.
Mrs. Josephsen was born on October 13, 1927 in Portland, Michigan to Claude and Reeva (Snyder) VanAmburg. She grew up in Portland, Michigan and had lived a large part of her life in Battle Creek. She moved to Marshall in 1988. Marie was a graduate of Portland High School, class of 1945. She continued her education attending a school for music in Chicago.
On May 15, 1986, she married William L. Josephsen in Marshall. William preceded her in death on October 25, 1998.
Marie had been employed as an Executive Secretary for the Eaton Corporation in Marshall. She retired in 1991 after serving in the Engineering Department for twenty-five years.
Mrs. Josephsen was a member of the Marshall Garden Club and the Battle Creek Arts Center. She was also a member of the Congregational Church where she sang in the choir. While a member of the choir, she had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe performing chorial concerts. She visited many interesting cities and made many new friends.
She is survived by daughters, Margaret (Kenneth, pre.) Russell of Covert, Janice (Steve) Smith of Battle Creek and Donna (John) Squires of Lake Orion; grandchildren, Julie (Joe) Duscek, Jon (Jennifer) Russell, Justin (Annette) Smith, Jessica (A.J.) Juneja, Samantha (Bill) Trewhella, Jennifer (Zachary) Bier, Ann (Paul) Majchrowski and Lisa (Trevor, pre) Blaylock; and great grandchildren, Heather Duscek, Maddox Smith, Prira Juneja , Mason Juneja, Clare Hunter, Phillip Majchrowski, Annabelle Blaylock, Evelyn Blaylock, Keindalyn Arnald and Callie Arnald. She is also survived by a sister, Irene Giar of Lansing; and brothers, Fredrick (Deloris) VanAmburg of Eagle, MI and Lyle VanAmburg of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; and a brother, Raymond VanAmburg.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 11:00 AM, at the Kempf Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI, with a luncheon to follow at 12:00 PM. Interment is at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan at 3:00 PM.
