M. Maxine SchnaitmanMaxine was born February 16, 1926 in Jackson to Clarence Lester and M. Ione (Maurer) Wood. Marshall has been her home all of her life.She was a 1944 graduate of Marshall High School. Maxine then studied at Michigan State University for a year before transferring to Cleary College in Ypsilanti. She graduated from Cleary with an Associate Degree in Accounting.Maxine started working for Kellogg Company in Battle Creek during the summers she was on break from school. After graduation from college she started working in their Accounting Department. Maxine was promoted over the years, ending her career doing bid work for Kellogg's Institutional Sales Division. She retired after 20 years in 1965.She was married to Robert L. Schnaitman on November 11, 1967 at the First Presbyterian Church in Marshall. Bob preceded her in death on August 17, 2006.During the Korean War, Maxine worked at her father's insurance agency, the C.L. Wood Agency while her brother, Lloyd served his country in the armed forces.Maxine was a member at First Presbyterian Church in Marshall all of her life, and served there as a deacon. She and her husband Robert enjoyed traveling together and had seen 48 of the states by car.Maxine is survived by her sister, Marilyn (Ronald) VerMeulen of Kalamazoo; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Lloyd D. Wood and a sister-in-law, Carol Wood; and nephew, David Wood.Private committal services were held at Oakridge Cemetery, Marshall. Arrangements are by the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Marshall. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Marshall First Presbyterian Church.
